Just been having a look at your TreasureChest module for ModX, been trying to get it to work with evo 1.0.3. Do you know if it should? I'm trying to figure out if it's not incompatible with 1.0.3 or weather I'm doing something wrong.

Cheers

Glad to hear that you're still knee deep in MODx. You've contributed quite a lot to it over the years. I haven't been hanging around the MODx forums much lately because life has kept me insanely busy (my son turned one just last week).

Makes sense to use the right tool for the job. I've started using Magento for most ecommerce sites lately, and although it's a bit more cumbersome than I'd like it's perfect for shopping sites that need all the bells and whistles in one coherent package. And come to think of it, I've set up quite a few Blogger blogs in the last couple years myself.

Back to Ubuntu: Jaunty mistreated me a bit because my main laptop has Intel video, but Karmic was such a disaster that it actually started to make me mad at Ubuntu. So many of its bugs seemed self-inflicted, and practically none of the ones that affected me were fixed six months later. Lucid was the last chance that I was giving Ubuntu to work well on this machine, and now I'm glad that I held out (I do really like the Ubuntu community, and I want to be able to recommend and install it for people).

Hey Zap! Nice to hear from you. I was also getting tired of "spit & duct taping" Ubuntu through pretty much all of 2009. It seemed like every 5th or 6th resume from suspend would actually work, but most of the time it was a hard boot holding the power button down. So far with the Lucid beta I have had only one seemingly random freeze that required a hard boot, but I can't remember what I was doing at the time and it hasn't happened since the upgrade to 2.6.32-21.

I switched to wordpress because it is perfectly suited for blogging and that is all I am doing with the site at the moment, so it seemed to be the best tool for the job at hand. I have continued to use and support MODx on the majority of the web development projects I have done and I see no change to that in the foreseeable future. I agree that MODx is certainly much easier to customize... A testament to it's tremendous API.

I've been running Lucid since beta 1, and it certainly is a whole lot better than Krappy Koala. I had gotten KK mostly stable on my main laptop by using a Lucid kernel and various hacks, but it was a spit-and-duct-tape kind of thing and I was bearing with way too many annoyances. I still can't suspend or hibernate reliably in Lucid, but I haven't ever been able to do that in Linux with this laptop.

If Lucid hadn't turned out well I was ready to dump Ubuntu for Debian on all my systems, so I was pleasantly surprised that it's actually very stable.

So why did you switch the site to WordPress? Got bored with MODx? I like to mix things up also, but I don't think I'd ever make that particular switch (WP bugs me and MODx seems so much easier to customize).

Hi, great work Scotty but I have one problem. It serves small files with no problem, but when I try to download pdf file which is 1,5MB, what I get is a file of size 1,3MB and graphics are corrupted inside. Can't find a reason for that. Do you have any idea?

Regards,
Mike

The stars are holding up great, but I have added quite a bit to the right arm. I am working on a sleeve. There are some pics of my more recent tattoo work here: http://scottydelicious.com/2009/04/22/octopus-tattoo

I did not upgrade the NBP to Snow Leopard yet. I am still waiting for more info and feedback at mydellmini.com.

I did upgrade both the MacBook Pros to Snow Leopard and I think it is pretty great so far except my Safari Adblock plugin no longer works!
